Faraday’s Kitchen Store Cooking School hosts both demonstration-style and hands-on Cooking Classes throughout the year supporting the Bee Cave, Lake Travis and Austin areas of Texas. Working in a modern, professional kitchen, you’ll be inspired by our talented, creative chefs who will demonstrate techniques and give you the skills needed to prepare simple, delicious meals at home. A light meal is provided with each class.

Classes range from 12 to 14students per class, and each space is sold in advance on a first come, first serve basis. If classes are full, we will be happy to add you to our waiting list. Most Classes are two hours in length, unless otherwise detailed within the class description.

Elegant Summer Wellingtons with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Everybody knows classic Beef Wellington – beef tenderloin wrapped in a pastry crust. Take the same technique of wrapping meat and put a twist on it to create a light and simple Wellington perfect for a summer dinner party. In this class we’ll use hardy greens as the crust and prepare pork, lamb and fish Summer Wellingtons. A Summer Wellington lets you combine your favorite protein with different flavors and different greens to suit your mood. A side dish of grilled veggies and your meal is complete! The cost for this demonstration class is $79 per person.

Enjoy some real Korean "Seoul Food" with Chef Demeatrie! Chef Demeatrie was stationed in Korea while in the military, and took the opportunity to get to understand and love the local cuisine. The menu for this class includes: Banchan, a collection of small Korean side dishes that dinner guests enjoy in Korea as a prelude to the main meal; Kimchi-Jjigae, a zesty stew with meat, tofu and kimchi; and Hodugwaja, Korean Walnut Pastry. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

Thai Cooking Class with Chef Uyen Pham! Learn to cook delicious Thai specialties at home with Chef Pham! Thai cuisine is a simple but clever combination of Eastern and Western influences. Sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy flavours work together to make each dish come to life. Treasures of Trinidad and Tobago with Chef Demeatrie Funderburk! The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago's cuisine has a unique history, influenced by African, Indian, European, Chinese and even Afghan culinary styles. With such a varied pedigree, you know the food will be something special! Your menu includes: Saheena (Spinach Fritters, a favorite Divali treat) served with Chutney; Pelau (Rice and Pigeon Peas with Chicken and Vegetables); and Parsad, a decadent pudding-like dessert served with Tamarind Caramel. How to make World-Class Texas Brisket on your Smoker! Chef Kareem El Ghayesh will teach you how to choose the right brisket at the store, how to prep, rub, cook, rest, and slice the perfect brisket. Menu includes: Prime Central Texas Style Brisket, Homemade Pickled Vegetables, and Egyptian-style Mac & Cheese. Cooking will be demonstrated on the Green Mountain Grill, but the techniques used can be applied to any smoker. The cost for this demonstration cooking class is $79 per person.

The Charming Cuisine of Costa Rica with Chef Demeatrie Funderburk!
Costa Rican food is known for being mild, hearty and delicious, featuring loads of their fresh fruits and vegetables. One of the most popular dishes you'll find is Casado, which offers a variety of tastes piled up on one over-flowing plate of bright colors and flavors. Chef Demeatrie's take will include a Salad with Hibiscus, Cilantro, Moringa and Spinach; beautifully seasoned Rice and Beans; Plantains; and grilled Skirt Steak. Small Plates from Around the World with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Many countries around the world have a tradition of small plates. Spanish Tapas, Greek Meze, Chinese Dim Sum, Italian Antipasto, and French Amuse-bouche are just a few examples. Small plates inspired by these traditions as well as modern innovations will be explored in this class. Chef Heidi will be making a variety of small plates including Muhammara, a popular dish in many Middle Eastern countries; Black-Sugar-Glazed Medjool Dates with Pecorino and Walnuts created by two San Francisco chefs; Vietnamese inspired Grilled Beef Rolls with Nuoc Cham Dipping Sauce; Chinese Pancakes with Crispy Duck and Plum Sauce, and a classic Spanish tapas – Patatas Bravas. Cuban Delights with Chef Demeatrie Funderburk! For decades, it's been difficult to travel to Cuba- but you can get a taste of Cuban cuisine in many locations, especially in Miami where more than a third of the population is of Cuban descent. You'll get your own taste of Cuba in this fun class with Chef Demeatrie! Menu includes: Frituras De Malanga (Savory fried malanga root), Lechon Asado (Cuban Mojo Pork) with Traditional Black Beans & Rice and Roasted Corn Salsa; and for dessert, Capuchinos (no, not the coffee drink- these are delicious little yellow cone-shaped cakes you see in just about every Cuban bakery). Learn the secrets to making beautiful sushi rolls! This hands-on class with Chef Dan Castro will cover a brief history of sushi in Japan; how to make your sushi rice; the equipment you'll need; how to cut your fish and basic knife cuts; and you'll make three different kinds of rolls: Negihama, with Hamachi, Scallions and Ponzu; California Roll with Crab, Avocado and Cucumber; and a Handroll with Spicy Scallops and fish. Hands-on Knife Skills Class with Chef Scarleth Aguilar! Join us as Chef Scarleth teaches you to handle your knives like a pro. We understand that life happens and emergencies do occur. However, we also hope you understand our commitment to all of our students and the preparation that goes into creating a successful class. For this reason, we ask that if you are unable to attend a class, you must notify us 72 hours in advance of the scheduled class time to receive a refund or credit towards another class. Within 72 hours of a class, all cancellations are non-refundable (even if someone else gave this class to you as a gift). If you cannot attend a scheduled class, we encourage you to send someone in your place. In this case, please call ahead and notify us of the participant change.Reservations for groups of 5 or more require 7-day notice of cancellation for a refund.
